Bascule372 Park Street Bridge :
Built in 1934, the Park Street Bridge is a Double-leaf Bascule Drawbridge connecting Alameda to Oakland over the Estuary. On Opening Day an Oakland man married a woman from Alameda on the span. Most Alamedans have used the bridge—some daily. I isolated this stark image of the bridge from its surroundings in order to showcase the structure. In the inverted image you can imagine the bridge reflected in the water at sunset.

Greg Barron in his workshop
In my photography I strive to focus on the essence of my subjects drawing on subtle clues like eye contact, a smile, and even the most fleeting head movements. In this portrait of Greg B I sought to capture his unique persona; a master of his craft, one of the few experts in the world fabricating “high wheelers” (penny-farthing bicycles) from scratch right here in Alameda.

4WheelDrive - Still Life
As I walked my Area 23 on Park Street I saw many people in line for Fikscue BBQ. I turned around and noticed two trucks covered in bright green ivy and wondered what the story was. I engaged a gentleman sitting nearby having a coffee; he had no clue about the abandoned vehicles. The vegetation was slowly surrounding the trucks and I thought: this will soon be the end of the trucks being eaten by the green monster. OR they might start up again and drive down the psychedelic road and never return. I took the shot.
