You have 48 hrs to complete your assignment. The mornings are spent looking for the right light—that color of blue and the crisp yellow. The afternoons can be difficult as the light doesn't cast any shadows so you have to create the shadows with your surroundings. Sunset can be a bust as the clouds creep in and cover the brilliant red sun. The night can be bright with headlights and neon; best to wait for the right time and place to shoot.  The island of Alameda offers a myriad of terrain, waterways, dwellings and commercial spaces to photograph.  It is an inspirational—and fragile—environment subject to storms, tides, and rising seas.
The Wireless House
As a long time Alameda resident I’ve noticed that being on an
island has several challenges.  These include rising tides, warmer
temperatures and flooding.  Wireless House is floating just above
the water to remind us that we live on an island.

Bay Farm Dusk
I’ve always looked for the positive vs. the negative in my work. I seek to find angles and abstractions that twist the image in a way to challenge the viewer to stop and look at the print and ultimately find common ground with the subject.

Bay Farm Sunset
As the sun set on Bay Farm Island the clouds were changing rapidly;
the sky turned into a wonderful color palette.
